A short workbook for anyone who wants to share a little about themselves and give someone a reason to start a conversation.
1. Set your intention — 2 minutes
Finish this sentence: “Right now, I would like to meet someone…”
For example:
• …for a serious relationship.
• …for a connection that could grow into a relationship.
• …and get to know them gradually, at a pace that works for both of us.
Choose words that reflect what you are looking for. Keep them simple and honest.
2. Choose a photo — 3 minutes
Pick a recent photo where you are clearly visible and like how you look. Make sure your main photo makes it clear whose profile this is.
For extra photos, choose a moment from a walk, a favourite activity or a trip. These help tell the story of your life.
3. Find three specific details — 3 minutes
Think about everyday things:
• What do you do on a free evening?
• How do you spend your weekends?
• What could you talk about with enthusiasm?
Make general statements more specific:
Use only examples that really fit you.
My three details:
4. Write your introduction — 4 minutes
Use this starting point:
I enjoy [two activities or details]. I would like to meet someone [your intention]. I value [one or two things] in a connection. For a first meeting, I suggest [a comfortable plan].
A completed example:
I love weekend trips and cooking breakfast to music. I am looking for a serious relationship. I value thoughtfulness, humour and being able to talk through plans calmly. For a first meeting, I suggest coffee and a short walk in the city centre.
Make the text your own: add a distinctive detail, a phrase you would naturally use or a question you would love to hear someone answer.
My introduction:
5. Leave a conversation starter — 2 minutes
You could end your profile with a question:
• Which place in your city do you love showing to friends?
• What does a great day off look like for you?
• Which short trip brings back happy memories?
• What do you enjoy cooking for people you care about?
• Which film makes you want to talk about it afterwards?
Before saving, read your profile again. Does it sound like you? Is it clear what you are looking for? Is there at least one detail someone could ask about?
Bonus: five starting points for a first message
Choose a message based on a real detail in their profile, then add your own interest.
1. “Hi! You mentioned enjoying [activity]. How did you first get into it?”
2. “I noticed [place] in your profile. What did you like most about it?”
3. “It looks like we both enjoy [shared interest]. What have you tried or watched recently that you would recommend?”
4. “Your comment about [detail] caught my eye. Would you tell me a little more?”
5. “Hi! Your profile asks about [topic]. My answer is [your answer]. What is yours?”
Send a message that sounds natural to you. From there, a conversation grows through mutual interest and both people taking part.
You can now take your text to your chosen dating service and fill in your profile.
